William David Campbell

(Hill Spring, AB)

William David “Bill” Campbell (1901–1990) was born in Rimbey, Alberta, to pioneer families who instilled in him a love of nature and resilience. Known for his booming, joyous laugh, he spent his life hiking, hunting, and fishing in the Alberta foothills, drawing inspiration from the wildlife and landscapes around him. He married Elna Bohne in 1926 at the Cardston Alberta Temple–where he had watched its construction as a boy–and together they raised 11 children. Though colorblind, Campbell loved to paint the temple and gifted many works to his family. He passed away in Cardston at age 89.
